About me

My background in the arts is perhaps proof that I've always had a curious and enquiring mind. Dissatisfaction brought me into personal therapy in my late twenties and there I found a space where I could explore my own thoughts and troubles in a way that offered a profound sense of freedom. I value psychotherapy and it's potential for healing and personal transformation as the ultimate creative practice and so it has felt like a natural progression to make it my life's work. The spirit of enquiry continues to underpin my approach to living.

I am originally from Glasgow and some of the qualities I feel glad to embrace from that culture, and bring into my work are those of humility, pragmatism and warmth - not to mention a good sense of humour sometimes too. It has been proven in studies again and again that the singular most important factor which makes psychotherapy work is the foundation of a good relationship. One where you can feel a sense of trust, often built up through periods of adversity, that is necessary to be able to explore new possibilites, new ways of being. It is my sincere intention to offer this kind of relationship to each person who comes to see me for psychotherapy. Together we will endeavour to enquire into the mystery of what it means, for you, to be human. In doing so we shall aim to discover what might be preventing you from living a life of deep fulfillment and having greater access to the innate potential of your being.

Qualifications, Memberships and Professional Development

I hold an MA in Core Process Psychotherapy from the Karuna Institute awarded by Middlesex University. In addition, I have undertaken further training in Psychotherapy with Gender and Sexual Diversity clients as well as Trauma work with Merete Holm Brantbjerg. I am a fully registered and accredited member of the UKCP and adhere to the their code of ethics.

I worked as part of a team of psychotherapists in a community mental health service in East London before leaving to focus on my private practice. I participate in peer support programmes and ongoing professional development to ensure that my practice in central London affords the best informed care. I am passionate about psychotherapy and keenly follow the emerging flow of discoveries produced by neuroscience, clinical psychotherapy and psychoanalysis in order to keep myself up to date with advancements in current thinking. I am currently a member of the Association of Core Process Psychotherapists (ACPP), International Association for Relational Psychoanalysis and Psychotherapy (IARPP) and The Relational School(TRS). I am a student of the 'Diamond Approach' at the Ridhwan School.

My training in Core Process Psychotherapy (CPP) is an integrative, psychodynamic oriented psychotherapy. It includes aspects of body psychotherapy and transpersonal psychology and is underpinned by western developmental theories, as well as Buddhist psychology and awareness practices.

I am currently undertaking further training to become a UKCP registered supervisor and have spaces for new supervises which I can offer at a reduced fee. Please contact me if you are interested in working together.
